The idea of Sisterhood was birthed over a cuppa tea between two women 12 years ago. Having just moved back to their hometown after many years away, both were looking for a supportive group in which they could go deeper in their relationship with the Lord and those they did life with. They found a few other women who felt similar and so began the local Sisterhood groups. Before long there were many small groups operating on a fortnightly basis and then four times a year all the groups would come together for a social event.

Initially these groups consisted of married women but as the interest from single and more mature women grew it was clear that the desire to build  Sisterhood in the local community was more than just the desire of a small few. There was a need deep in the hearts of women, no matter what age or stage of life, for close, supportive and deeper relationships with other women.

 

A place in which they could be called on and deeply challenged to live a life centred on Jesus Christ. A place in which they felt safe to bring the burdens, the grief, the struggles of life and have those experiences held in the  love, prayer and  wisdom of other women. A place where prayer and encouragement were abundant. ​A place where they were invited into a deeper understanding of the vocation of womanhood and the incredible value and dignity that women posses.

A few years later the team felt God dropped the idea to host a national Catholic women's conference. A conference which would bring women from all around Australia and beyond together for a weekend of deep formation, prayer and worship, the sacraments, keynote inputs and workshops and quality sisterhood time. 

​

From these conferences there are now countless Sisterhood small groups that meet each fortnight  right around the country. As well as regional retreats and social events in each region.

The national conference and support of the regional groups is overseen by the national core team.
